In partnership with UNICEF, the CHIP insulation initiative will involve 1,385 household

Together with UNICEF, the Capital City's Office of the Governor will carry out a comprehensive insulating project for Ulaanbaatar homes. The capital city's governor and mayor of Ulaanbaatar, Kh. Nyambaatar, UNICEF Resident Representative Evariste Kouassi Komlan, and Ts. Erdenebayar, the acting CEO of Tavantolgoi Fuel Company, all signed the pact.

According to Mayor Kh. Nyambaatar, Ulaanbaatar plans to insulate roughly 5,000 dwellings this year in accordance with comprehensive regulations before transitioning to gas fuel. The CHIP initiative will take into account 1,385 households that reside in Mongolian homes that satisfy UNICEF insulation standards.

"The provision of insulating products to 1,385 households will be finished on September 30. In Ulaanbaatar city, the introduction and distribution of gas heating technology to homes in the ger districts is intended to minimize air pollution. The Children's Fund will offer advice regarding the standards, quality, and safety of gas equipment.

A "Mongolian Home Insulation, Heating and Ventilation Package" called CHIP seeks to enhance air and heat quality while replacing conventional coal-fired heating. Its components—ventilation systems, insulating layers, and electric heaters—protect children's health and lower air pollution.

Evariste Kouassi Komlan, a UNICEF resident representative, thanked the organization for starting this partnership to lower Ulaanbaatar's air pollution and safeguard the health of children.
Furthermore, Mayor Kh. Nyambaatar underlined that Mongolia's development policy is in line with the UN's goals and objectives. He also expressed great hopes for the work of developing appropriate gas fuel usage and practices in Ulaanbaatar as well as researching the consequences of air pollution.

Air pollution remains one of the biggest threats to children’s health in Mongolia, affecting their lungs, brains, and overall development. Through this collaboration, we are putting children’s rights and wellbeing at the center of action.
